    This version is trying to get shortest miles with most of the good lane streches without repeating any of route. There Are similar routes, differing lengths and also more direct winter versions using the roads normally missed out.
    This route is the best for NW winds as there is great protection heading Northwards around the industrial estate, which you would never know was there on this version. And it is the most interesting of lanes. This route also has the lovely steep -ish climb out from Erbistock, especially if you drop down to pub first.
    however this version is not good for winter or after heavy rains and peak farmer times ( see winter version)
    That said, it is easy to shorten and make it much better for bad weather, by cutting out the loop from Erbistock and the steep hill by cutting up along the B road, which is not bad at all. it saves 5 miles and. although lovely;y lanes, not good in bad weather. You would also carry on on the B5130, straight to Holt and avoid the lovely scenic lanes around the industrial estate, saving another mile or two as well ( not bad for traffic at all. A528 is not so bad either, as it is fairy wide & open.
    The route can easily be shortened after Holt, by cutting through Pump lane or going back via Wetreins Lane.
