If you live in the eastern or south eastern suburbs of Melbourne then this is a great route to get you to the AVD event in Wangaratta. I’ve used this route many times for a couple of reasons. 1) its wonderfully scenic which makes for enjoyable riding. 2) I find that the Maroondah Hwy through Alexandra is far less busy than the Melba Hwy via Yea. Although there are lots of curves from Healesville up the Black Spur and over Dom Dom saddle, a confident rider should be able to keep ahead of the cars. And of course its just so beautiful through those tall straight trees and ferns. Once you cross the Melba Hwy at Yarck you are on a quiet very delightful road that heads uphill. At Terip Terip, turn right onto Creightons Creek Road. This is another gem of a road as it winds through large granite boulders and outcrops. Very pretty indeed. At Euroa this route hooks into another club route to Wang that comes from further west via Seymour. There is just one short 3.6-km Hume Hwy stint to contend with that gets you to Violet Town. Logical fuel stops would be Alexandra (132-kms from Melbourne) and Benalla (125-kms from Alexandra). DA

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
