This one is very hilly short one, specific to a direct westerly wind, as it uses sandstone ridge for the hilly bit but more importantly the Peckforton ridge line for cover when heading SW, which is also up hill.
The lane has been finally repaired and they resurfaced large sections of it. However, not done anything with the stretch we use on this route. The repairs are on the section from Peckforton castle to Beaston, which is good for some of my other routes like ‘ Beasting route’

The repairs thus far to Stone house lane will enable me to use the peckforton / Beaston section on winter rides, but the other section toward Bickerton Poacher is still rough as hell and hoping it drains floods on the bend.
One serious climb at Tirley lane, instead of Chapel hill ( it is longer by 300 mtrs🥴 & tough start, due to the fact it is uphill into Quarry lane first then turn into Tirley lane. However, made even worse by the climb up to Ukington via Stonehouse lane, which is steep in the beginning. Effectively got the longest climb in the area of basically 2 miles.. again however, it is uphill form Oscroft, making it 3 miles, with just a 500mtr rest bite down hill into Quarry lane. The overal effect compared to Chapel hill is very similar, but Chapel hill still a lot steaper & really gets the legs, main
Y due to the 8% incline to the top after the steep bit.

I never realised that Tirley lane is in fact the lane along the top of the ridge and that it turns down to Ukington. I naturally assumed the ridge line road to the bottom was the same, as Heaths lane,
There is good cover on the SW section down from Eaton to Bunbary to be fair and the last bit home through Harthill works out well for Westerlies as well.
All in all a sharp hilly ride of 35 miles, which puts me on the limit for no cafe stop & 2 large bottles needed.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
