MG- Best Cold! Wet Route Via Meadow Lea & Lav

This one is aimed at really cold weather on the best of the lanes for condition and not usually flooding or that mucky from the farmers hence head out via Beaston first and to get the miles before Meadow Lea cafe, to warm up, if it is 3 degrees then feet can’t manage much more than 20 miles, so 17 to Meadow Lea cafe and open 7 days a week.
Then on to Lavister via Hoole road, which is the most sensible way, if not using the Greenway of course, which in winter is a No No ( floods in places , always covered in leaves and of snow or frost been, it really is a death trap hence, Hool road, which is direct into the the traffic lights by Evans cycling. Then along the river through Handbridge to Lav ,where I can possibly stop at Elwyn’s, although only 10 miles from Meadow,. However Cleopatra’s or Maggies is only 15 miles, which is perfect, if it is really cold, then 10 miles home via Bruera.
This route has lots of options, once past Lavister, especially if I stop at Elwyn’s and warm up properly.
I could get some decent miles in on a very cold day. However, the route is 42 miles anyway, which is more than enough in winter, although, with a cafe stop it is short for me.
I can of course cut for home, after Meadow Lea, if it turned out to be very! Cold, wet etc., even if I go through Chester, I can bail there through Huntington, Saighton, with options again. This obviously means I wouldn’t have the much longer route around to Holt, as the only place to cross the river Dee of course hence, my last bail out spot is in Chester, before I head down the river bank.

Hoole road into Chester, is not only direct and reasonably open road, it has enough traffic that any snow gets cleared by cars, as it gets gritted.
