    This route crosses the busy A59, twice, so care is required. In good dry weather with dry ground, an alternative route can be taken down by the River Ribble, taking the track from the corner of Pashmire Brow, onto a footpath to the east of Hacking Hall. Follow the river west, into the woodland then take the SW path, through the woods, before Brockhall Farm, to join the original route. This adds maybe an extra 1/2 mile or so.
    Parking:- Good on-street parking on the 'old' Whalley Road ( Not the A666). Off the roundabout, take the A666 then almost immediately, take First Left into the residential road,
