This one is aimed at stiff NW winds & getting as far west as poss before turning off the Greenway, which provides fantastic cover from headwinds, all bar a1.5 mile stretch which is exposed and then we bare off left with the wind for a 4.5 mile blast along the Dee towpath to Saltney ferry crossing.
We in fact take the Greenway as far west as we can to Shotton Greenway as far as poss to Shotton. The cafe stop is Chocks Away cafe at 25 miles (great value and always open 364 days).
There is. a 2 mile slog to the cafe and beyond before turning up the hill to Hawarden. However, once up there the rest of the route is flat and with the wind.
Carden Park is protected into the cross wind.the only bad bit is frog lane. The bit through Huntington can be tough. However, I can't really make a better distance route.

This is a fairly good route after bad weather, although the greenway can flood in odd places, especially to the east of Chester, but not aware of any to west. And the rest of the route lanes are good.

Cafe option on this ride is Chocks Away - Jamoley’s or the ‘Pursuit’ ( old Gallery, in Hawarden, so plenty of options. There is also Holt and Lost Barn at top of Wetreins lane, so a great route, which could easily be extended to a GF, if I took in the Lost barn for a 2nd stop

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
