This is my best way of getting to Steve’s place, which is really awkward, without using A roads.
As it is, the last few hundred mtrs has to be the main A road up to his and the same on return. In fact the return leg, there is really only 1 way and that’s to go down into Northop and out on the B road that leads me to the Jubilie rail bridge ultimately. The route plotted is the best I can do in avoiding the urban areas and more importantly avoiding riding through Connacht Quay and Queens ferry, both awful.
This plot means I only have to ride a few hundred mtrs on the main drag of Queens ferry and involves a slightly strange cycle path that comes back on it’s self to get up onto the bridge cycle way.
The bridge gets us across the Dee and is effectively the Greenway. Simply follow it, if I was to use the Greenway all the way into Chester some 6 miles-ish However, this plot is via the Tow path of course.

The decision to use the towpath or the Greenway will depend on the wind at the time, as the Greenway would provide excellent wind protection, if the wind is anywhere from N to S. obviously the Dee towpath would only be good if the wind is between SW & NW.
This route is plotted along the north side of the river Dee, which leads into the race course cycle path and then along the chester corniche as I call it.
If I didn’t take the tow path, along the Dee then just carry on, over the Jubilie bridge and you are on the Greenway, just follow it for 6-ish miles until I pass through the 2 half gates across the greenway. Then get off on the right, just a couple of hundred mtrs past the gates. That then allows me to get down to the Bike factory. And home through Huntington.

Note the long leg of this route is getting to Steve’s and is the most scenic. The last little bit is the only way of getting around Northup and up to Steve with out doing a lot of miles more. In order to get around Northop, I have to ride through Northop colleage 28 miles to Steve. Most of it is really good. I love the strech from Hope all the way to Northop

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
