    A surprisingly great ride considering it was in thick cloud and I fell in the swollen Crookdale Beck early on. I threw my bike over onto something soft then jumped via a mid-stream boulder but new boots gave no grip and I fell, backpack first, into 1m of water. Given that there are no rights of way in that area it was absolutely deserted - a good route for summer weekends and very easy parking in lay-by on A6. The return leg is great because there's no need to ponder navigation - just put your head down and charge down alongside the fence/wall.
