    TOM 21.1km Recce route, taking in both of the "big" hills (Edinburgh & Southern Cross Drives).
    Route starts from Kirstenbosch parking area and heads north towards Union Rd (M3). Turn right onto Union, and stay on right side pavement all the way up Edinburgh Drive (the first hill of approx 2km, so a walk 1, run 3 lamppost approach is recommended). Then take slipway on right where traffic from Wynberg Park would join into main M3 traffic, go under bridge and down along Wynberg park to Trovato link, while still sticking to right to face oncoming traffic. Trovato becomes Waterloo, which forks to right at bottom into Alphen Hill and becomes Constantia Main rd. Turn right into Parish Road at around 9km mark and then left into bottom of Southern Cross Drive, for a 2.5km climb to the top (a walk/run strategy is once again recommended, especially for the 2nd half, where the incline becomes steeper). Turn right onto Rhodes Drive at about 12.5km and follow route back to Kirstenbosch for the last 3.5km.
