    Head down University Ave. Descend the stairs into the valley and enjoy the easy and forested Belgravia Access North trail until you reach Buena Vista/Hawrelak footbridge. Cross the footbridge and follow the buena vista park trail on the North bank heading east (river on your right). You will come to a fork where the main trail turns north and heads uphill. Take the trail straight ahead, taking note of the sign warning of slumpy conditions and trail closure. This part of the trail can be seasonally VERY muddy and/or icy. The trail is SLUMPY, which means that the riverbank is eroding into the river, which can cause difficult and even dangerous terrain. In many places, small springs and streams cross the path, and may require deviations and bushwhacking.

    Once you make it through the challenging section, you’ll come out of the trees to MacKinnon Ravine Park, where the ravine meets the river. From there, head east into Government House Park and climb the big toboggan hill (ICE AND MUD SEASONALLY).

    Finally, enjoy wandering in the old Westmount neighborhood until you reach 8km.
