    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.

    About

    Start/finish Ash Grove Cabins.

This is a nice ride. To 215 is pretty tame. E. Fork is a nice road heading west. More work heading east. 215 to the BRP is about 16 miles, and the last 6 are sustained uphill. But the grade is not steep (around 6 to 8%).

Then decend the other side of the mountain until Sunshine camping area. Turn and head back up. This climb is easier than the south side, but longer sustained climbing.

Once back in Rosman, take and alternate way to E. Fork. Very easy until getting to Walnut Hollow. There is a climb for a mile, and the last few hundred meters is around 10%.

There are also 3 climbs on E. Fork to get back to Ash Grove Cabins. The first one hurts at this point in the ride. It has a few switchbacks. Watch out for dogs at the top. Then there are two other easier climbs, but if you're like me, you'll not be happy about them.
