This clockwise route is fab as it has distance with some descent hills, but nothing above 10%.
Need to follow the route explicitly, as there are some odd bits of lane and road side paths to ride, that will not be obvious.
There is a path to ride alongside the A49 at Bartington and after Acton to enable crossing the big bridge over the river and then turn right immediately at the Leigh Arms pub. You can in fact ride up both sides of A49 to get over the bridge.
There is another stretch of the A556 , after Higher Wincham, as it is a busy junction of traffic lights. So ride the path up the left side for a couple of hundred yards to the traffic lights and cross on the pedestrian lights into Plumley lane.

The real hills on this route are in the 1st half and before Plumley and therefore way before the cafe stop at Organic farm ( on manor lane to Whatcroft and therefore before you cross the river on way to Davenham, which is at roughly 37 miles in) This is the main reason for this route being clockwise to get a cafe stop just in the right place.
This route covers some of the best villages and country lanes, which are all good.
The ride also covers 2 mile of river bank along the river weaver, just after Davenham and the cafe stop. It’s gravel path and good ,all but the annoying gates which mean you have to lift bike around pivot gates, but worth it, as you then travers the lock gates at just before riding through Vale Royal Abby golf club ( which looks a cracker)
To pick up the river Weaver path, you need to ride the side road and then path along the side of the A556 and turn left down a little track ( steap for 100 yards and then left on to path. Ride through at least 3 maybe 4 stupid cattle gates and after 1.5 miles ish ride across the lock gates up a track through Vale golf course and the rest is straight forward ( great route)
This route is possibly even better anti-clockwise and stop at the Red lion pub in Pickmere ( style pub and good value)

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
