How to split a route into two or more parts

If you have a long route that you want to split into two parts (or more), there is a simple way to do this.  Follow these instructions:

  1. Select the route for editing in the route planner and then click the Edit This Route button.

  2. Click on the toolkit icon to access the Plotting Functions and select Shorten Route.

  3. Drag the Finish Marker (B) back along the route to the point where you want to split it.

  4. Click SAVE and then click the Save As New Route button.

    Save As New Route button

  5. Give the route a new name (e.g First Half of Route) and save the first section of the route.

  6. Next reload the original route for editing (you can do this by typing the name of the route in the Universal Search box next to the menus).

Using the Universal Search to select a route

  7. Click the Edit This Route button.

  8. Click on the toolkit icon to access the Plotting Functions and select Shorten Route.

  9. Drag the Start Marker (A) forward along the route to the point where you want to split it.

  10. Click SAVE and then click the Save As New Route button.

  11. Give the route a name (e.g. Second Half of Route) and save the second section of the route.

If you want to do the reverse and join together two routes, you can use the Combine Routes feature, which is accessible from the menus or the Plot Function toolkit.
