Bodensee - Lago Maggiore: Etappe 3
Die Strecke folgt dem Rhein flussaufwärts bis nach Hinterrhein, dann geht es über den San Bernardino Pass (2066m). Anschließend geht es entlang des Flusses Moesa bis zum Lago Maggiore.Nach Durchfahrt von Locarno gehts dann ins berühmte Maggiatal hinein bis nach Gordevio.
Es handelt sich dabei wohl um eine eher einfache Alpenüberquerung. Ich habe sie in sechs Etappen eingeteilt; die Etappe mit den meisten Höhenmetern ist die kürzeste... Die Etappenziele sind allesamt Zeltplätze.
Die Höhepunkte der Strecke sind sicher der Bodensee, die Viamala-Schlucht, der San Bernardino-Pass und der Lago Maggiore sowie das Maggiatal.
Etappe 3:
Triesen - Thusis
Von Liechtenstein geht es weiter rheinaufwärts zurück in die Schweiz. Im Bereich von Malans führt die strecke für ein paar Kilometer durch die Weinberge und nicht direkt am Rheinufer entlang, wodurch es ein paar kürzere Steigungen zu bewältigen gibt. Die zu Berge rechts und links der Strecke werden beeindruckender. Hinter Chur folgt man dann dem Hinterrhein und der Radweg führt bald in einem Wald für einige hundert Meter sehr steil und dann andauernd mäßig bergauf. Er verläuft direkt am Felshang und es werden erste spektakuläre Ausblicke auf den tief unten im Tal liegenden Rhein gewährt, bevor ein Teil der gewonnen Höhe in einer abfahrt wieder abgebaut wird und die Strecke sich kurz vor dem Zielort Thusis wieder an den Rhein anschmiegt.
