    Es geht von Bad Hersfeld an der Fulda entlang flussaufwärts bis nach Asbach und dann im Asbachtal etwas bachaufwärts in den Wald, wo man auf die Reste der Burg Milnrode trifft. Dann geht es weiter durch den Wald über die Anhöhe nach Kirchheim. Dabei passiert man eine Kastanienallee und man überquert die ICE-Strecke praktisch unbemerkt; der Tunnel liegt aber so nah an der Oberfläche, dass es hier einen Notausgang gibt.
    Kurz darauf erreicht man Kirchheim am Tierpark und fährt dann durch das Aulatal nach Niederaula, um dort wieder auf die Fulda zu stoßen. Dann geht es flussabwärts über offenes Feld zurück nach Bad Hersfeld.

    Die Runde führt um den Pfaffenwald herum, in dem es einen Gedenkfriedhof gibt, der an das dortige Arbeitslager aus den 1930er Jahren erinnert. Dieses war zum Bau der Autobhan A4 errichtet worden und später auch zu anderen unschönen Zwecken weiterbenutzt worden...

    Die Strecke führt über Rad- und Waldwege. Lediglich ein paar Straßenquerungen stellen Berührungspunkte mit dem Autoverkehr dar.
