MG - South To Whixall Marina / Moat Shed
Hopefully it will be a cafe again some day hence, this route has not been deleted in that Hope.
Seems they only do take away special meals like Xmas 22.
However, in the mean time, this route is still useable as there is a cafe stop at Whixall Marina (22 miles & open 7 days a week till 3 in winter, 4 in summer)
Easy to cut out the moat shed loop and go straight across to Northwood by turning right half a mile after Whixall Marina, which saves 4 miles and then makes the Marina a good half way stop
This route avoids virtually all A roads (200mtrs on A495, unavoidable)
An interesting route and relatively flat to be fair ( simple short hills)
Route also returns via Mannerwood cafe at Barton, if needed & open till 5pm or the Lost barn, just before Wetreins lane.
The route has been amended on several occasions to avoid what I know as bad lanes and takes in some of my favourites and also avoids those that are iffy or town centres like Malpas. The route is therefore as scenic as I can make. There is only one slightly iffy bit around Hanmar, because none of the lanes around there are that good hence this way is the best of a bad bunch.
The Moat shed is one of the best cafe stops ( more like a restaurant for their food quality)
Route also returns via Manor wood cafe, if needed and open 7 days a week till late.
However, post pandemic, there currently only open on Fri, Sat & Sun.
