Beautiful 12-mile(ish) 'point-to-point' hike through the Wye Valley area, finishing at Christchurch.

Route starts at the small town of Welsh Bicknor, following the Wye River north until it reaches Kerne Bridge. Then the route doubles back and begins the relatively easy ascent to the trig point at the top of Coppett Hill, providing a fantastic view for miles around. From there, the route traces along the ridge of Coppet Hill and back down to re-meet the river.

NOTE: Route can be cut short here by following the river north-east along the west bank, which leads right back to the start point.

Now hugging the river in the opposite direction, the route traces north to allow crossing to the opposite bank, and follows it back down to reach a wooded area with a steep switchback-style ascent to Symonds Yat Rock.

The viewpoint at Symonds Yat Rock is stunning, and the biggest highlight of the walk. If you are lucky, you might even see Peregrines swooping around in the valley! After taking in the amazing view, the final stretch of the walk follows the Ramblers Association's Highmeadow Trail through Elliot's Wood to Christchurch.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
