An awesome ride through the rugged splendour of the Arrochar Alps. Well-known to local riders, the circuit involves a long climb and stunning mountain scenery, followed by a fast descent and techy single track to finish. Starts / finish in Arrochar.
From the car park in Arrochar turn right, then left and follow the road through Succoth village to the forest entrance (OS Grid Ref. NN 298 059). The forest road climbs steadily through the conifers and contours around the triptych of Beinn Narnain (926m), Creag Tharsuinn (781m) and A’Chrois (849m) into the atmospheric Allt Coiregrogain. After crossing the stream, a sweeping 3.6km descent passes beneath the southern flank of Ben Vane (916m) – watch out for the occassional rough section.
Turn right towards Coiregrogain Farm. Cross the bridge over Inveruglas Water, turn immediately left and follow a section of joyous single-track weaving through the forest. A short, steep climb leads into fairly technical descent and more quality singletrack along Glen Loin. After the Stronafyne properties turn right then left and follow the Loin Water to the main road. Turn right and follow the road back to the car park.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
