    Goede conditie vereist.

    Etappe 1
    Obersdorf (D)- Holzgau (AU) 20,5 km D+1274 D-984
    Hoogste punt op 14,3 km 1981 meter Mädelejoch. Laatste 6 km overwegend naar beneden. Slapen in een hostel in Holzgau.
    Etappe 2
    Holzgau- Memmingerhütte 18,6 km (39,1) D+1391 D-286
    Hoogste punt 2241 meter bij de hut op 18,6 km. Deze etappe gaat overwegend omhoog. Eerst heel geleidelijk, laatste 4,5 km naar de hut steiler. Alleen wandelaarshut, dus nachtrugzak mee.
    Etappe 3
    Memmingerhütte-Zams 14,2 (53,3) km D+505 D-1970
    Pensionnetje boeken in het dorpje. Zeer veel dalen. Daarom minder km's
    Etappe 4
    Zams - Schön 21,8 km (77,2) D+1235 D-1758
    We lopen eerst 1,4 (D+180) km naar de kabelbaan, Rifenalbahn, anders zou de dagetappe veel te veel hoogtemeters hebben en omhoog lopen onder een skilift is niet zo heel prachtig. 54,8-56,7 km is 2 km (D+790) kabelbaan. 56,7 t/m 77,4 is route, laatste 5 km was over grotere weg L16, maar wij nemen grotendeels alternatieve route. In Schön zitten meerdere hostels.
    Alternatief is de grote kabelbaan pakken, scheelt 550 hoogtemeters omhoog, bij onweer en veel regen de alternatieve lagere route nemen.

    Etappe 5
    Schön- Mandarfen 24,4 km D+974 D-356
    Een iets minder zware dag qua klimmen en dalen. De Via Alpina gaat officieel het eerste stuk over de L16, doorgaande weg. Wij kiezen de wandelwegen van dorp naar dorp langs rivier de Pitze.

    Etappe 6
    Mandarfen - Mautstelle Öztal gletscherstraße 16,6 km D+1432 D-1077
    Flink rustiek omhoog in hoog alpien gebied, zware dag. Eindpunt is de tolpoort van de gletscherstrasse en we slapen in het dal
    Etappe 7
    Mautstelle-Vent 20,5 km D+1169 D-1295
    Met bus of auto naar de Mautstelle terug. Wederom een pittige dag in hoog alpien gebied.
    Etappe 8
    Vent-Vernagt (I) 18 km D+1158 D-1350
    We steken de grens over naar Italië en lopen omlaag naar Vernagt
    Etappe 9
    Vernagt-Pension Grubhof 20,9 km D+964 D-1290
    Omhoog omlaag in de Italiaanse Alpen ofwel Südtirol

    Etappe 10
    Pension Grubhof-Hochmuth Bergstation Meran 19,1 km
    D+1179 D-1196
    Aansprekende route door een kloof met waterval. We eindigen op Hochmuth, een bergstation boven Meran, als we daar aankomen hadden we geen 'hoogmoed', maar de Alpen totaal overgestoken.
