The ride starts on University Blvd a block or so west of the University of Arizona. Many continue to join up along the way out of town.

The ride takes a slight shortcut off Duval Mine Rd to head up La Canada to re-join the regular Shootout route at Helmet Peak Rd.
The Old Man Shootout aka OOMSO was started after several older riders were injured during the regular Shootout. A smaller, safer and slower paced ride was formed. There are sprints along the way but in general there is no attacking to break up the ride. The ride will slow and reform after the bridge and sprints. Some turn around at the Bridge (~18.2 miles into the ride and near the MP 13 sign) and return back down Mission. There are now three Saturday morning rides, the OOMSO starting first followed by the B group 15 minutes later followed by the A group another 15 minutes later. the A and B groups follow the slightly longer regular Shootout route. You do not have to be an old man or old to participate in this ride :)

Ride start times change throughout the year based on changing sunrise. Call Fairwheel Bikes for current ride times.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
