Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.
When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

This route bags High Rigg, a nice rideable small fell for starters, back to the A591 and drag the bike up a ridiculously steep field to what looked like an interesting track ... but it wasn't a good choice - unrideable for 500m from the main road and a very slow walk. Once onto the shoulder of Pike Fell, the going improves and apart from climbing a fence to reach the footpath up from Rakefoot straightforward to Walla Crag and Bleaberry Fell, wet along to High Seat and even wetter towards High Tove before striking east down through rough vegetation to the corner of the forest. There's a bit of a rough clearing in the forest that leads through to the start of the forestry track although it is not obvious. Great track down to the little path up to Raven Crag, just a minor detour before continuing the track and then back through Shoulthwaite Farm.
