A fun route, devised from the original "Anna's Walk" and full credit to the originator, Anna and Anna.

This version was made a bit special by adding laughter, binoculars and bubbles........and of course a tad of mud!!

Start off by meeting a Fantasic Lady called Anna in the Lifeboat Car Park. Make sure one is wearing suitable walking attire, shorts would be perfect, white jeans would just be silly. Let any dogs meet and say "hi" at this point

Head off on the marked route, let's the dog run free as there is hardly any traffic down this lane.

At the first sign of a bird call, extract binoculars and if one is an "extreme twitcher" open the bird call app which will produce wildly random results and leave one none the wiser, other than that there are many mute swans.

At this point, find a dog poo bin cum bottle opening surface and crack open a bottle of half decent Veuve Cliquot, fill 2 flutes and continue along the shown route.

At this point, if one was stupid enough to wear white jeans then it has become clearly evident that shorts would have been the better option, made plainly obvious by Anna herself! Julian fully realised the plainly in sight advantages of shorts.

Continue along the route, and chat aimlessly and buoyantly about life in general, enjoying every second of the Company and general" Joie de Vivre", greeting all passers by with a convivial greeting, ignore the frowns and in some instances, downright disdain for openly drinking Bubbles in a Nature Reserve!

Then dropdown through the dunes, to the open sands next to the water, continually being aware of any incoming tide, the dogs now fully enjoying the sea air and other dogs running freely. Normally high winds can be experienced here, but on the day of this walk was very calm and cooling, much appreciated as one of the party had too many layers on.

Further along the beach, climb up and back over the dunes and head back down the path until you arrive at a fork, take the right fork. You may well encounter local smugglers here, posing as "Razor Clam" hunters from Essex, but clearly waiting for a local boat to deliver contraband, we were not fooled! However, very pleasant Father and Son smugglers.

Not far along from the right fork, you will encounter a small wooden bridge over a steep banked riverbed. We would advise to not let any willing dogs in here, which we mistakenly allowed and the poor dogs, after much fun in very watery mud, could not make their way up the banks. Anna herself started to show small signs of panic, running back and forth across the bridge with positive calls of encouragement to the poor confused animals. Suddenly, a Knight in White Denim descended the bank to pull said animals up the bank. Animals safe, at this point he knew he had Fu@K"% up. To make the situation worse, Bruno decided to do a full on shakedown next to the exiting aforementioned Knight. All ended well, Anna in hysterical laughter, and of course compulsory photographic evidence of what not to wear on such an encounter. Fun was had by all.

Continue on over the bridge, and head down past the Masai Mara Safari huts on the left, and enjoy breath taking sights of natural wildlife running freely among the orchards.

At the main road, cross cautiously and into the fields that run along the road, a very considerate farmer has left an unploughed path all the way back to where you can cross the main road safely and back down to The Lifeboat There are some public bins here where any rubbish can be deposited.

Back at The Lifeboat, attempt to find an outside tap to wash down the mud caked dogs, but to no avail at the Lifeboat itself. We ventured into the campsite, only to meet a lovely couple holidaying from Spalding, they allowed us use of their hosepipe and voila, clean(ish) dogs.

Finish the walk off with a delicious meal in the very enjoyable Lifeboat, with some great conversation, better company and a drop of a great new find Sauvignon.

Head back to the cars and for home, kiss your Fair Lady until the next time and hold fondly the memories of a great day.

We hope you enjoy Anna's Walk (Date) 2 as much as we did. xx

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
