Alternatively, you could take the First Gondola (20 mins), then walk the trail through meadows to the Grosse Scheidegg, Grosse Scheidegg can also be reached from Grindelwald by bus (35mins).
From Grosse Scheidegg hike towards the Schwarzwaldalp and Rosenlaui, where you can visit waterfalls. Further along the trail reach Reichenbach falls. From here you can either take the famous cable car or walk down to Meiringen village.
Alternatively, you can walk 1hr from Grosse Scheidegg to Schwarzwaldalp, then take the post bus (40 mins) to Meiringen, or take the post bus all the way (1hr).Edit
