    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.

    About

This route takes you from the front door of the Peacock through Rowsley village to the top of Coombs Valley with fabulous views towards Bakewell to the north and Matlock to the south. Then up through Manners Wood which is especially beautiful when the bluebells are out in late April. It takes you through Calton Pastures; past the ornate Russian Cottage (inspired by the gift of a model of a Russian farm to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1855 from the brother of Tsar Nicholas of Russia); through Calton Lees village and back along the Derwent river valley to Rowsley and the Peacock. This route is entirely off road and can be extended to include more of Manners wood and / or Chatsworth House.
